Mumbai: Ranveer Singh’s much talked about film Don 3 is finally picking up pace after months of uncertainty. The update comes at a time when the actor is enjoying a massive career high. He was recently spotted in public with wife Deepika Padukone, marking his first appearance since the roaring success of Dhurandhar. The spy thriller directed by Aditya Dhar has swept the box office and has already surpassed the Rs 500 crore mark in India itself which has only added to the buzz surrounding Ranveer future projects.
Don 3 Set to Roll After Delays
Don 3 was officially announced in August 2023, with a teaser that introduced Ranveer Singh as the new Don. He steps into a role that was previously made iconic by Shah Rukh Khan. While the film was earlier expected to go on floors in January 2025, director Farhan Akhtar’s existing commitments reportedly pushed the schedule. This created a lot of speculation that the project was possibly on hold.
Putting all rumours to rest, a source has now confirmed that Don 3 is very much happening. The source says that the makers are eager to get on with the film without any further delay and Ranveer is already starting work on the role. He is also reported to have begun vigorous training in heavy action sequences and has started his preparation last week.
The first shooting schedule of Don 3 is expected to begin between late January and early February next year. The action thriller will also feature an international leg, with parts of the film set to be shot in Jeddah.
Kriti Sanon Joins Ranveer in the Action Packed Franchise
Kriti Sanon has been finalised as the female lead opposite Ranveer Singh. The pairing is already generating buzz, especially since both actors are coming off successful films. Dhurandhar by Ranveer has become a blockbuster and Kriti has just given a blockbuster with Tere Ishq Mein.
In Don 3, Kriti will reportedly be seen performing action sequences as well. Her character is reportedly of the same category as Priyanka Chopra Jonas iconic Roma in the previous Don movies, which introduced a powerful and vibrant female figure into the narrative.
Antagonist Talks and Cameo Buzz Add to the Hype
There has also been considerable discussion around the film’s antagonist. Earlier reports suggested that Vikrant Massey had exited the project and that Tamil actor Arjun Das might step in. However, the makers are reportedly still in talks with Vikrant Massey. Sources indicate that there are talks on once again and the actor is interested and the team is also working on dates. Minor script changes are also being made keeping his role in mind.
Adding another exciting layer to Don 3 are the cameo rumours. Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra Jonas are rumored to make special appearances, this will be their first screen reunion since Don 2 in 2011. It is also reported that Farhan Akhtar is discussing special roles with Amitabh Bachchan and Zeenat Aman.
