Mumbai: Farhan Akhtar’s much awaited action entertainer Don 3 is once again in the spotlight, this time due to fresh casting developments. The recent reports reveal that actor Rajat Bedi is under consideration to play a key role in the film, which might replace Vikrant Massey who has dropped out. There is no official announcement yet but there is a buzz in the industry that talks are already going on.
Directed by Farhan Akhtar himself, Don 3 is the third installment of the iconic Don franchise and has been surrounded by speculation ever since pre-production began. Having changed the cast several times in the last year, the makers seem to be eager to secure the ensemble before proceeding with production.
Rajat Bedi in Talks for Don 3
This is according to a report by Hindustan Times, Farhan Akhtar has been keen on casting Rajat Bedi who made news recently with his performance in The Ba*ds of Bollywood released in 2025. His work in the film reportedly impressed the makers, prompting conversations about bringing him on board for Don 3.
The report also mentions that Vikrant Massey was originally engaged in a significant part, but he left the project because of creative reasons. In July 2025, Bollywood Hungama had disclosed that Massey believed that the character was not developed well and was not deep enough, thereby contributing to his choice of quitting. Since then, the makers have been exploring suitable alternatives.
Although there has been no official confirmation from the production team, insider sources suggest that further discussions with Rajat Bedi are expected to take place in January 2026.
Don 3 Faces Multiple Casting Shifts
Don 3 has been dealing with casting changes for quite some time now. Earlier, Kiara Advani also exited the project, adding to the uncertainty surrounding the film. Prior to that, the project featured in the news after Ranveer Singh, who was initially cast in the film, allegedly exited the film citing creative differences.
These developments have led to several names being floated as possible additions to the cast, but the makers have maintained silence, choosing to finalise decisions quietly. The film still sparks interest considering the legacy of the Don franchise and its director Farhan Akhtar is involved in the changes.
