Mumbai: Bollywood’s most popular action hero, Sunny Deol, is set to go back to the battlefield with the long awaited sequel of the iconic 1997 war film Border, called Border 2. The original movie, which captured the acts of bravery and sacrifice of Indian soldiers during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, was a milestone in Indian cinema. And now after 27 years, Deol is ready to revive that magic of patriotism back with an entirely new storyline and a star cast.
Recently, social media was buzzing with news of Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan charging an whopping ₹25 crore each in Border 2, and Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty were reportedly paid ₹7 crore and 3 crore, respectively. The overall cost of the film was reportedly approximately ₹150 170 crore, and its teaser is expected to premiere in November.
But, setting all the speculation to rest, actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh took Twitter (now X) to confirm that these figures are entirely bogus. The fake news was said to be a source of an unverified Twitter account. Diljit made it clear that there is no truth in the circulated post and he urges fans not to be misled by such baseless claims.

Sunny Deol released the first poster of Border 2, his big re-entry into the field after 27 years on last Independence Day. The poster depicts Deol in his military avatar, in the act of mid-battle cry, with a bazooka in his hand firing at the enemy, with soldiers behind him waving the National Flag.
Sharing the poster on the social media, Deol wrote, “Hindustan ke liye ladenge… phir ek baar!” It was a visual sensation that brought a sudden burst of enthusiasm among the fans, setting the tone for what promises to be another stirring tribute to the Indian brave soldiers.
Border 2 will have a theatrical release January 22, 2026, perfectly timed with the Republic Day weekend. The teaser of the film is also expected to be released in November 2025.
