Mumbai: The teaser of the Dhurandhar: The Revenge, a sequel of Dhurandhar by Aditya Dhar, has finally gone online after a long and anxious wait. While expectations were sky high, the response from fans has been mixed, with many expressing disappointment over what the teaser actually delivered.
Social media users were quick to point out that the teaser featuring Ranveer Singh alongside Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, and R Madhavan appeared to be largely repurposed footage from the end credits of the first film. The fans who were expecting new visuals, huge reveals, or even a peep into the extended story were short changed.
Adding to the disappointment was the absence of several elements that had been widely speculated about. The rumored cameo of Vicky Kaushal is not part of the teaser, and neither did Akshaye Khanna’s much discussed flashback scenes as Rehman Dakait. There has been one new update, however, that has been able to create some excitement amid the criticism.
Yami Gautam to make a special cameo
According to reports, actor Yami Gautam has been roped in for a special appearance in Dhurandhar The Revenge. According to a source cited by Pinkvilla, she has a short but action-filled role that is of paramount relevance to the story of the film. The source also added that Yami had already finished almost five days shooting the project and her scenes will shock the audience.
Despite being a cameo, the role is said to be far from ordinary, with high impact moments that play a key part in the storyline. This is what has made the revelation worth looking forward to by the fans after the teaser did not live up to the anticipations.
A reunion rooted in Uri: The Surgical Strike
This cameo also marks a professional reunion between Yami Gautam and director Aditya Dhar, who are married. The pair initially collaborated on the 2019 blockbuster Uri: The Surgical Strike, in the course of the promotions of which their relationship is said to have started.
Interestingly, soon after the release of first Dhurandhar film, Yami had made a public statement on how much she adored the writing of Aditya Dhar. She told News 18 in an interview that she had read his next script, and she wished she could be a boy just in order to be in that world. At the same time, she had clearly stated that both she and Aditya keep their personal and professional lives strictly separate, with no expectations of working together.
Her reported involvement in Dhurandhar The Revenge now adds an intriguing layer to the sequel, especially given her earlier comments and the couple’s history of maintaining clear professional boundaries.
While the teaser may not have lived up to the hype, the confirmation of Yami Gautam’s crucial action cameo has injected fresh curiosity into the project. Having a star cast and with some surprises left under wrap, the fans are now keeping a close eye on what Dhurandhar The Revenge will finally deliver.
