Mumbai: The box office storm created by Dhurandhar: The Revenge is only getting stronger. The Ranveer Singh starrer has not only maintained its dream run on day two but has begun its record-breaking run after a record-breaking opening. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the high-octane spy thriller has already crossed massive milestones within just two days of its release, putting it firmly on track to become one of the biggest Indian films ever.

Massive numbers in India and overseas

Dhurandhar: The Revenge released worldwide on March 19, after creating history with the biggest paid previews ever seen in Indian cinema on the previous day. It opened to a phenomenal ₹145 crore net in India on day one. On Friday, the movie earned the movie an additional ₹81 crore in total domestic revenue coming to a net of ₹226 crore and a gross of ₹269 crore in only two days.

Globally, the numbers are even more impressive. The film has already reached ₹370 crore gross worldwide. With this pace, it is expected to cross the ₹500 crore mark by Saturday itself.

The overseas performance has also been strong. Despite no holiday advantage in international markets, the film collected nearly $7 million including previews, followed by another $5 million on Friday.

Records shattered and bigger targets ahead

In just two days, the film has achieved something rare. It now holds the record for the two highest single-day collections by a Hindi film in India, pushing Jawan down to the third spot.

Trade experts are now predicting an even bigger weekend, with the possibility of the film crossing ₹100 crore net on at least one day. If the trend continues, Dhurandhar 2 could easily register the biggest opening weekend in Indian cinema.

The film is also racing ahead of major titles. Its two-day worldwide total has already surpassed the lifetime earnings of films like Adipurush and War 2, which had collected ₹350 crore and ₹338 crore respectively.

Star cast and franchise power

Apart from Ranveer Singh, the sequel features a strong ensemble including R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi.

The massive popularity of the first film also contributes to the success of the sequel which had already amassed around [?]1300 crore in the global circuit and was still continuing to play in the theatres three months after its release in December. Meanwhile, Dhurandhar 2 not only wants to be the top-grossing Indian film of the year but also will seek to break box office history even in the future.
