Mumbai: Veteran actor Dharmendra’s health scare has taken an upsetting turn, not only for the Deol family but also for millions of fans across the world. The police have now arrested the hospital employee who secretly filmed and leaked the footage of the actor in his hospital room days after a highly personal video of the actor went viral on the internet. The event has sparked severe national anger, questioning privacy, ethics and media insensitivity in a family at a sensitive time.

Arrest of Hospital Staff

The 89-year-old actor was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital, where he was undergoing treatment. Shortly after his hospitalisation, a video recorded from inside the ICU made its way to social media platforms. In the clip, the actor Dharmendra is caught lying there on the hospital bed with his eyes closed, close relatives such as Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Prakash Kaur and grand sons Karan and Rajveer Deol surrounding him. The family emotional turmoil was also evident, Prakash Kaur was seen crying and Sunny was trying to comfort her, making the leak even more unpleasant.

After mass outrage, the police responded promptly to the issue. According to the report released by HT City, the hospital staff member who was involved in the breach of privacy is arrested on the charges of invasion of privacy and recording in a medical facility without any permission. The arrest has been termed as a necessary measure to avert future of such infractions particularly in cases that involve high profile cases and delicate medical cases.

Dharmendra’s Death Rumours

But this was not the first wave of distress in the Deol family. Earlier in the week, rumours about Dharmendra’s death began circulating online, creating massive panic among fans. Social media was flooded with fake news and false updates that forced Sunny Deol and Esha Deol to repeatedly issue clarifications and urge people not to believe unverified news. The hoaxes of premature death were additional burden of emotional distress to an already delicate situation.

The rumours didn’t just affect the fans, they deeply hurt the family. Hema Malini, too, expressed strong displeasure, criticising sections of the media for spreading baseless news without verification. She called the coverage “insensitive and irresponsible,” emphasising that such misinformation during a medical emergency can have severe emotional consequences.

On Wednesday, things finally took a positive turn when it was confirmed that Dharmendra had been discharged and is now recovering at home. The Deol family issued an official statement thanking fans for their prayers and requesting complete privacy as the veteran actor continues his recovery journey.

With the arrest made and Dharmendra now resting at home, the family hopes that the focus shifts from sensationalism to support. For fans across the country, the legendary actor’s well-being remains the top priority along with the hope that he soon returns to good health and strength.
