He informed that the script is nearly final and with proper arrangements, the crew will transition to the shooting phase in the near future. Although the movie does not have a title yet, Bazmee assured that the genre will strongly remain in the comedy genre, which he is well familiar with.

This announcement is an exciting one to fans who have been awaiting the return of Akshay Kumar in a full-fledged comedy directed by Bazmee. Their reunion becomes important as well during a time when the highly-anticipated sequel No Entry Mein Entry by Bazmee remains uncertain.

Is the Film a Telugu Remake?

There have been reports suggesting that the upcoming comedy might be a remake of the Telugu action comedy Sankranthiki Vasthunam. However, Anees Bazmee did not comment on such claims. He never revealed the plot or the basis of the narrative, which allowed some room to guess and speculate.

What he did confirm, though, was his happiness about reconnecting with Akshay Kumar professionally after so many years.

A Bond Built on Trust and Respect

When asked about being associated with Akshay Kumar, Bazmee had nice things to say about his equation with Akshay. He shared that there is mutual love and respect between them and that the actor was immediately excited when he heard about the film. Although the two have not collaborated in more than a decade, they have been in contact all the time which made the collaboration feel natural and timely.

Their previous collaborations have been popular with the fans as well and this reunion therefore makes it even more special to the fans of Bollywood comedy.

Bazmee on the Changing Nature of Comedy

Anees Bazmee’s last release was Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 in 2024. Having almost 30 years of directorial career, he has developed his recognition based on the situational humor, which resonates with audiences of all ages. In his view, it is much harder to write comedy today as compared to the past.

He stated that comedy has become something that must now be written carefully and planned. Writers must also consider whether the actors can truly deliver that style of humor. Bazmee added that he enjoys writing under pressure and finds that strong emotions often help him create better scenes. However, moments of sadness or creative blankness can make the process challenging.

Why Comedy Still Matters

Although action films are leading in the box office today, Bazmee is certain that comedy is the most sustainable genre. He believes that comedy is the most challenging genre to perform but it remains with people the longest before being re-watched and remembered.

This is evident in his choice to go back to comedy with Akshay Kumar, who is a comic timing actor and commercially appealing.

Akshay Kumar’s Work Front

On the work front, Akshay Kumar has several films lined up. He is preparing Bhoot Bangla, Haiwaan and Welcome To The Jungle, all of which will be released in 2026. Because of the new project with Anees Bazmee, the talented artist is going to have another exciting project on his already full schedule.
