Mumbai: Following its record-breaking performance in India, Pushpa 2: The Rule is currently preparing for the same in other countries. Starring Allu Arjun in his iconic Pushpa Raj avatar, the record breaking blockbuster is officially headed to Japan, marking another major milestone for Indian cinema on the global stage.
The film, which became a cultural phenomenon back home, already shares a special connection with Japan. Among its most discussed sequences is the fierce entry battle of Pushpa in Japan, in which Allu Arjun is astounding the audiences with effortless delivery of the Japanese language. This is a special factor that has contributed to the excitement of the Japanese fans before the theatrical release.
Allu Arjun Begins Japan Promotions in Tokyo
Ahead of the film’s grand release on January 16, 2026, Allu Arjun arrived in Tokyo to kick off promotions. The superstar was accompanied by his family and shared his first glimpse from the city on Instagram. The actor put a scenic picture of the Tokyo skyline and just captioned it Tokyo and the fans around the world immediately noticed.
Pushpa 2 will release in Japan under the title Pushpa Kunrin. Japanese distribution giants Geek Pictures and Shochiku have partnered with the Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings to carry the hugely popular franchise to the Japanese screens. The movie is set to be released in almost 250 cinemas, and it is one of the largest releases of an Indian movie in the country.
The makers are confident about the film’s reception, especially considering the growing popularity of Indian blockbusters in Japan over the years.
Grand Premiere and Powerful Visual Appeal
Pushpa Kunrin will be premiered in Japan on January 15, just before the official day of release. There was also an eye-catching Japan release poster featuring Allu Arjun in his entire Pushpa style. Dressed in bright floral shirts and sunglasses, the actor’s trademark swagger takes centre stage, highlighting the larger than life appeal that turned the film into a global sensation.
Adding to the buzz, the Japanese version of the trailer was released on YouTube on the same day. The visual effects, action and the authoritative screen presence of Allu Arjun have already gained a good reception creating even more anticipation towards the theatrical experience.
Directed by Sukumar, Pushpa 2: The Rule features music by Devi Sri Prasad. Fahadh Faasil plays a key role as a police officer, while Rashmika Mandanna stars as the female lead. The film is produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar.
