Recently, fans were thrilled after reports suggested that Akshaye Khanna would return to shoot for a week for Dhurandhar 2. The buzz claimed that the makers wanted to expand Rehman Dakait’s backstory due to the character’s immense popularity.
According to a source close to the development, Akshaye Khanna has neither shot any new scenes for Dhurandhar 2 after the release of the first film, nor is he scheduled to do so in the future. The source made it clear that the two parts had already been shot by director Aditya Dhar and that he has no intentions to include additional scenes simply because the character has gained a fan following.
Rehman Dakait will still appear in the sequel
While there is no fresh shoot planned, fans of Akshaye Khanna can still look forward to seeing Rehman Dakait once more in Dhurandhar 2. According to the source, Akshaye features in some scenes in the sequel, which were filmed long before the original schedule. These scenes are included in the intended story, and they were supposed to be included in the latter part.
The source also addressed rumours about major reshoots. There is no reshooting of the film happening. The filming only needed some patchwork and that has already been done.
Aditya Dhar’s approach has been praised for its honesty and clarity of vision. One of the main reasons Dhurandhar connected so strongly with audiences was its sincere storytelling. The director is eager to uphold the same authenticity in Dhurandhar 2 and does not wish to twist the plot to reap the benefits of popularity alone.
