Mumbai: Aashish Chanchlani’s web series Ekaki has taken audiences by surprise with a bold narrative shift that few saw coming. What started off as a spooky horror story with its disturbing scenes and a touch of the paranormal world has now revealed its true identity. The series is not about ghosts at all. Instead, it has emerged as a sci fi thriller rooted in extraterrestrial elements.
The first episode of Ekaki managed to establish the mood of a typical horror story. Those who watched were plunged into a dark ambiance characterized by mysterious events and fear fueled narration. But the second episode changed the course of the show altogether. The alleged supernatural powers turned out to be alien, turning the genre upside down and redefining the essence of the story. This twist has generated extensive online debate with some applauding the makers of the creative risk.

To underline this revelation, the team behind Ekaki unveiled what they called the “real poster” of the series. Announcing the update on social media, the makers clarified that Ekaki had always been intended to be a science fiction story, camouflaged beneath the facade of horror. They also left a clue of the next episode in the series with the poster, silvering that Chapter 3 will release on December 21 at 2:04, suggesting that the next one will be bigger and more explosive.

Jashan Sirwani has joined in as the executive producer and Tanish Sirwani as the creative director. Grishim Nawanii is a co writer of the screenplay, and Ritesh Sadhwani is the line producer.
Ekaki will only be available in the You Tube channel of ACV Studios on November 27, 2025. The series keeps viewers wondering with its dynamic plot and genre blending style. With the horror curtain pulled away to show a sci fi core, Ekaki establishes itself as one of the more ambitious digital experiments by the creator, with twists that extend way beyond what was first assumed.
