Mumbai: The internet has been buzzing for the past few days with speculation that filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi’s upcoming historical drama Lahore 1947 is getting a new title. A number of social media posts and online reports stated that the motion picture would now be titled Batwara 1947. But now producer Aamir Khan has cleared the air and affirmed that the title was not changed.

Reacting to the rumours, Aamir disregarded the rumours by laughing. In his opinion, the movie is still called Lahore 1947 and it has not been officially decided to repackage it. The producer indicated that he did not know where the speculation began and that as of today the project is moving ahead in every aspect with its original title.

Aamir Khan Says The Film Is Still Lahore 1947

Talking about this constant talking, Aamir left it quite clear that the title will not change. He mentioned that he would prefer the movie to be called Lahore 1947 and nothing has changed that. This clarification followed several online controversies wherein the film was hinted to be retitled to Batwara 1947.

The misunderstanding was further enhanced when certain individuals opined that an Indian film with a name of a city in Pakistan could not resonate well in India. Lahore has come to be known by the name of Lahore in Pakistan and the very thought of naming a Hindi film after Lahore apparently caused a few eyebrows to be raised by a few observers over the internet. Nevertheless, Aamir explained that he is not predisposed to modify the title due to this sort of opinion.

The Real Issue Behind The Title

Interestingly, the discussion around the film’s title has nothing to do with audience reactions. The real reason lies elsewhere. Producer director Suneel Darshan currently owns the rights to the title Lahore. Because of this, the makers of Lahore 1947 are in talks to resolve the matter.

Negotiations between the parties are ongoing and the issue is expected to be sorted out soon. Once that is settled, the title will officially remain Lahore 1947.

A Powerful Story Set During Partition

It is based on the famous stage play Jis Lahore Nai Vekhya which discusses the emotional and social consequences of the Partition period. The plot is based on human relations in the period of profound political and cultural enmity.

The film, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Aamir Khan, has an amazing cast that includes Sunny Deol, Shabana Azmi, and Preity Zinta. The project already created a lot of interest among those who love movies because of its good subject and the team it has in place.

Until now the speculation has been ended due to the statement of Aamir Khan. The rumours posted online do not change the fact that the film will be called Lahore 1947 and not Batwara 1947. The makers should complete the title rights shortly as the historical drama much-anticipated gets nearer to the screen.
