Ahmedabad: The 70th edition of the Filmfare Awards, one of Indian cinema’s most prestigious nights, was held in a grand ceremony at the EKA Arena in Ahmedabad. The star-studded evening hosted by Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar saw the biggest names in Bollywood in attendance. Kiran Rao’s directorial “Laapataa Ladies” was the undisputed star of the night sweeping a remarkable 13 awards including Best Film and Best Director.
This year, the Best Actor award was shared between two powerhouse performers: Abhishek Bachchan for his role in “I Want To Talk” and Kartik Aaryan for his incredible transformation in “Chandu Champion.” Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt took home the Best Actress award for her compelling performance in “Jigra.”
The evening also turned emotional as legendary actress Zeenat Aman and the late, iconic filmmaker Shyam Benegal were honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award for their monumental contributions to Indian cinema.
