Mumbai: Celina Jaitly and Peter Haag once seemed like a fairy-tale couple. They tied the knot in 2010–11 and had three children. Over the years, their family lived in different countries Mumbai, Dubai, Singapore, and Austria. Once known for her films and graceful presence, Celina has now stepped into a very different spotlight.

She filed a domestic violence complaint against her husband, accusing him of years of emotional, physical, sexual and financial abuse. She says he stripped her of dignity, freedom and even financial independence.

A brave voice speaking up

In her court petition, Celina describes the pain she endured. She alleges that her husband was controlling. He did not allow her to work, kept her away from family and friends, and even allegedly hid her passport so she could not leave. She says she was forced to flee their home in Austria in the middle of the night and return to India with help from a neighbour.

Her plea also mentions painful incidents: times when she felt demeaned, called a “maidservant,” and treated as if she were someone less than human. This isn’t just about a troubled marriage anymore. It is about reclaiming her dignity, her voice, and fighting for justice for herself and her children.

Legal battle and demands

Celina Jaitly’s complaint has asked for serious action. She has asked the court for ₹50 crore (for mental trauma and loss of earnings) and a monthly maintenance of ₹10 lakh. She also seeks custody of their children or at least regular contact with them. A court in Mumbai has issued a notice to Peter Haag. The next hearing is scheduled for December 12, 2025.

Beyond the headlines hope and courage

To many fans and the people who are watching this event move far away, this is shocking news. But the story of Celina Jaitly puts a light into something larger, the boldness that a person needs to raise a voice. In a world where silence often rules, she chose her own voice.

Another thing revealed by this story is the light shed on domestic violence, emotional abuse and the ordeal of being in a place where power and control prevail and many (particularly women) find themselves. Regardless of the outcome of the case, Celina’s step might encourage others silently suffering to speak up and seek help.
