Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal Resigns Albinder Dhindsa Named Successor

Mumbai: Deepinder Goyal the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Eternal Limited has resolved to resign as CEO. Goyal officially indicated to the company that he would quit the top position on February 1, 2026.

As a result of this change of leadership, the new CEO of Eternal Limited will be Albinder Dhindsa, who is the current CEO of Blinkit.

Zomato was started in 2008 as a small passion business by Deepinder Goyal. It became one of the largest food delivery platforms in India over the years and increased its activities in various regions.

One of the biggest accomplishments on the way of the company was the purchase of Blinkit, a fast-commerce platform providing fast delivery of groceries and other everyday items. In its bid to capture its increasing portfolio beyond food delivery, the company changed its name to Eternal Limited in 2025, although the food delivery app would still be traded under the Zomato brand.

Goyal to remain as Vice Chairman

The company made it clear that Deepinder Goyal is not leaving Eternal altogether. He is going to resign as CEO and become the Vice Chairman and remain as a board director, which will require shareholder approval.

Under this new position, Goyal will continue to participate in major decisions affecting the company in strategy and long-term but will not be directly involved in operations.

Goyal Proclaims Motive of Decision

Goyal wrote in his message that being in charge of a large public company needs a high level of discipline and vigilance. According to him, the role of a CEO did not allow him to pursue more daring and innovative concepts.

In moving aside, he will work on creative projects and still remain a key motivator and strategic advisor of Eternal.

Albinder Dhindsa Selected because amid of Leadership Provenance

The new CEO is Albinder Dhindsa who has excelled as the CEO of Blinkit. Blinkit grew exponentially under his management since it became part of the Zomato group and became one of the most important business verticals of Eternal.

The board is of the opinion that Dhindsa has the best experience in managing a fast growing business and therefore is the right person to head the whole group.

The change of leadership is a period that Eternal limited is registering good financial results. Recently the company has been reporting an increase in revenue and profits than in the last year.

The expansion of Zomatos food delivery service and the demand of the quick-commerce offered in Blinkits have contributed significantly to this success induced by the changing urban lifestyles and the online ordering.

The company is likely to remain speed-oriented, efficient and technologically-oriented services as Albinder Dhindsa takes over. His experience in expedited trade can be used to reinforce the delivery systems and customer experience even more.
