New Delhi: Mahindra & Mahindra has launched the highly anticipated 2025 facelift model of its popular off-road SUV, the Thar, in the Indian market. Following the remarkable success of selling three lakh units in five years, this new upgrade introduces several cosmetic changes, improved interiors and new features. The starting ex-showroom price for the 2025 Mahindra Thar has been set at ₹9.99 lakh, making it an even more attractive proposition.
This new model will be available in two new variants – AXT and LXT – and is offered in both Rear-Wheel-Drive (RWD) and Four-Wheel-Drive (4WD) configurations.
New Design and Exterior
Several changes have been made to enhance the exterior look of the 2025 Thar. The most prominent updates include a newly designed front grille and a dual-tone front bumper, giving it a fresh and modern appeal. The SUV will now also be available in two new attractive colors Tango Red and Battleship Grey. Additionally, it features new 18-inch alloy wheels that strengthen its side profile.
Interior and Features: A Blend of Comfort and Technology
The most significant upgrades in the new Thar are found inside the cabin. The dashboard now features an all-black theme and a new steering wheel. In terms of technology, the main attraction is the large 10.25-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system, which supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Focusing on passenger comfort, the SUV is now equipped with features like rear AC vents, a sliding armrest for the front seats, and door-mounted power window switches. Furthermore, features such as an entry assist handle on the A-pillar, a driver-operated fuel lid, and a rear wash-wiper have been added. For off-road enthusiasts, it includes the ‘Adventure Stats Gen II’ feature, which displays real-time information like altitude, pitch, and yaw angles.
Engine and Performance
Mahindra has continued with the existing engine options for the 2025 Thar. It is available with three engine choices:
- 1.5-litre D117 CRDe Diesel Engine: This engine produces 117 bhp of power and 300 Nm of torque, available in Rear-Wheel-Drive with a 6-speed manual transmission.
- 2.2-litre mHawk Diesel Engine: This engine generates 130 bhp of power and 300 Nm of torque. It comes with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission in the 4-Wheel-Drive configuration.
- 2.0-litre mStallion Petrol Engine: This turbo-petrol engine delivers 150 bhp of power and up to 320 Nm of torque. It is available with both 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearboxes in both RWD and 4WD configurations.
