Mumbai: Ranbir Kapoor is currently one of the biggest superstars of this generation. After the success of Animal, he has a dream line up ahead that includes Love And War, Ramayana, Ramayana 2 and Animal Park. Ramayana and its sequel are locked for Diwali 2026 and Diwali 2027, but the release date of Love And War is facing uncertainty due to delays.
According to reliable trade sources, Ranbir has now taken a strong stand. He has advised Sanjay Leela Bhansali and his team to finish the shoot of Love And War by March 2026. A source told Bollywood Hungama that Ranbir wants a minimum four month gap between Love And War and Ramayana. Since Ramayana’s date is confirmed, Ranbir has asked SLB to release Love And War latest by June 2026.
SLB Wants an August Release but RK Disagrees
The source also shared that Sanjay Leela Bhansali is very interested in releasing the film on Independence Day in August. However, Ranbir feels the gap between August and Diwali is too short. He wants the film out in June so that the performance of Love And War does not affect the hype of Ramayana.
Ranbir’s producer Namit Malhotra also supports the June release plan. He believes that since Ramayana is a much bigger film, there should be no impact from Love And War’s release or box office run. Sanjay Leela Bhansali is expected to make a final decision soon and announce the release date officially.
Film Running Behind Schedule, New BTS Images Go Viral
Meanwhile, IIFA shared a series of photos on Instagram featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt rehearsing their scenes with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. In the images, Alia is seen in a cute retro look, while SLB guides both actors on set. Fans quickly flooded social media with reactions after the photos went viral.
However, a report by Bollywood Hungama states that the film is currently around 40 days behind schedule. Bhansali has asked the lead actors to keep their dates free until summer 2026 to ensure the project is completed without further delays.
An insider revealed that the earliest release window now is June 2026. Ranbir Kapoor and Sanjay Leela Bhansali will make the final call and confirm the new release plan soon.
Ranbir Kapoor Calls Love And War A Dream Project
Earlier this year, at a fan meet and greet event in Mumbai, Ranbir spoke about the film with great emotion. He told that every actor dreams of working with Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Ranbir Kapoor said that he had worked with SLB seventeen years ago and that he had admired the zeal and effort of the director.
He said that Bhansali understands characters, emotions, music, Indian culture, and values like no one else. Ranbir Kapoor admitted that the process on SLB’s set can be long and tiring, but the artistic satisfaction is unmatched. He said Bhansali truly nurtures art and working with him again has been amazing.
