Mumbai: As Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 marked its first anniversary on November 1, director Anees Bazmee had more than one reason to celebrate, the day also happens to be his birthday. A filmmaker with his sharp comic instincts gave fans a special update that Bhool Bhulaiyaa 4 is officially on its way.
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Anees Bazmee revealed that the next installment of the popular horror-comedy series is already on. He affirmed that Kartik Aaryan who brought a freshness to the series with his acting, will again appear in the lead role. Bazmee has said that Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 demonstrated Kartik’s brilliant comic timing, and added that he plans to collaborate with him on more comedy projects in the near future.
On being questioned whether Madhuri and Vidya would be back in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 4, Bazmee hinted that it might happen, but also joked that this time a new face would join the franchise. While keeping details under wraps, he promised the fans that the next chapter will continue to bring the same humor, mystery and supernatural twists that made the show such a success.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, released in 2024, became one of the biggest hits of the year, and it perfectly combines humor, horror, and nostalgia. The film features Kartik Aaryan as Rooh Baba, Vidya Balan, and Madhuri Dixit, and has been praised as an enjoyable movie with an excellent storyline, catchy music, and with Kartik portraying the role of Rooh Baba with ease. Not only did the movie successfully draw audiences back into theatres but it also did very well at the box office by earning an estimated of ₹424 crore globally (around ₹283.8 crore net and ₹334.67 crore gross in India and about ₹89.18 crore abroad).
