Ranbir Kapoor and Yash's 'Ramayana Part One' garners over Rs. 143 crore in advance bookings, setting the stage for a blockbuster opening.
As anticipation builds for the global release of ‘Ramayana Part One’, the film has already made waves at the box office with impressive advance bookings. The film, featuring stars Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, has amassed approximately Rs. 143.50 crore worldwide in advance sales, marking it as the second-largest advance for a Bollywood film, just behind ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’.
According to reports from Pinkvilla, the advance bookings are split almost evenly between domestic and international markets, with Rs. 71 crore generated in India and Rs. 72.50 crore overseas. The Hindi version of the film has contributed Rs. 57.50 crore, while the South dubbed version has brought in Rs. 13.50 crore. Notably, the opening day advance for the Hindi version stands at Rs. 23.50 crore, placing it among the top ten biggest advances in Bollywood history.
Despite the strong advance figures, the film faces challenges due to its release timing, coinciding with the pre-Diwali period, which is typically a quieter time for Hindi cinema. However, industry experts predict that the film could open with around Rs. 55-60 crore nett in Hindi and an additional Rs. 15 crore from dubbed versions. The real test will come on Monday, when audiences return in full force after the Diwali festivities.
Internationally, ‘Ramayana Part One’ has seen significant interest, particularly in the United States, where it has already grossed USD 4.40 million. This positions it as the second-best presales for a Bollywood film, trailing only ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’. The film is expected to achieve an opening weekend gross of over USD 20 million, although initial projections aimed for USD 25-30 million.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, known for hits like ‘Dangal’ and ‘Chhichhore’, ‘Ramayana Part One’ is a retelling of the ancient Indian epic, featuring a star-studded cast including Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. The film’s soundtrack, a collaboration between renowned composers A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer, adds to the film’s appeal, with T-Series and Amazon Music backing the project.
As the film prepares for its worldwide release, the buzz surrounding ‘Ramayana Part One’ continues to grow, promising an exciting cinematic experience for audiences around the globe.
