Ramayana Set for Major Release Amidst Anti-Piracy Measures and Strong Advance Bookings

Ranbir Kapoor's 'Ramayana' garners 3.25 lakh advance ticket sales and secures anti-piracy protection ahead of its November 5 release.

The highly anticipated film Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari and featuring a star-studded cast including Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash, is poised for a significant release on November 5, 2026. With the film’s opening just hours away, it has already achieved impressive advance ticket sales, securing approximately 3.25 lakh tickets across major cinema chains PVR Inox and Cinepolis.

Despite this strong performance, the advance sales figures fall short of the recent blockbuster Drishyam: The Conclusion, which sold over 4 lakh tickets. Analysts suggest that the pre-Diwali period may have impacted ticket sales, as audiences typically engage in festive activities during this time. Nevertheless, Ramayana ranks third among Bollywood films for advance bookings in 2026, trailing behind Dhurandhar: The Revenge and Drishyam: The Conclusion.

Box office projections indicate that Ramayana could open with a nett collection of around Rs. 55-60 crore in Hindi, with an additional Rs. 15 crore expected from dubbed versions. The film’s performance is anticipated to fluctuate over the first five days, with Monday expected to be a particularly strong day as audiences return post-Diwali celebrations.

In a related development, the Bombay High Court has granted Ramayana comprehensive anti-piracy protection ahead of its release. The court issued a dynamic ad-interim injunction aimed at preventing unauthorized recording and distribution of the film. This legal measure was initiated by Godpower Media Private Limited, which holds the intellectual property rights for the film.

The court’s decision comes in response to concerns over potential copyright violations, especially after unauthorized footage had previously surfaced online. Justice Madhav Jamdar acknowledged the plaintiff’s apprehensions regarding illegal streaming and recording, particularly given the substantial financial investment of approximately Rs. 2,000 crore for the first part of the saga.

The injunction allows for swift action against any infringing content, enabling the filmmakers to notify internet service providers and digital platforms to take down unauthorized links. The matter is set to be revisited in court on December 16.

As Ramayana prepares for its global release, anticipation continues to build, with many hoping it will achieve significant box office success.
