Mumbai: The excitement around Golmaal 5 just got bigger. With the fifth instalment of Rohit Shetty’s hit comedy series underway, there was a big twist that has put a new spin of buzz. T-Series has taken over the music rights to the film officially, paying about Rs 9 crore, which is a huge commercial push and brand wise to the project.
Bollywood Hungama quoted a source saying that T-Series head Bhushan Kumar feels that Golmaal 5 has a good musical potential. According to the source, the high price is due to the fact that the brand of the franchise is highly valuable and it is believed that its songs will appeal to people of all ages.
A Fresh Chapter After Past Differences
This collaboration also marks an important reunion between T-Series and Rohit Shetty, after their much-publicised clash during Diwali 2024. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 of T-Series and Singham Again by Rohit Shetty were in a head-on clash in the box office and this caused bad relations between the two parties.
Things escalated when the title track of Singham Again was hit with a copyright strike by T-Series just days before the film’s release. The label also protested the similarities with the original Singham theme of 2011 with which they own rights. Consequently, the makers were forced to take the song down off every platform and to recreate the composition within a brief time frame.
Two weeks later, Rohit Shetty addressed the controversy, explaining that it was a contractual matter and that such issues can arise in the industry. His calm response hinted at professionalism, which seems to have paved the way for this renewed partnership.
A Long and Successful Association of Rohit Shetty
Before the 2024 episode, Rohit Shetty and T-Series enjoyed a strong working relationship. The music company supported 12 films out of 15 of his movies, such as, Zameen, Golmaal, Golmaal Returns, Golmaal 3, and Singham. Their collaborations have delivered several chart-topping albums and blockbuster films over the years.
With Golmaal 5 now moving ahead and T-Series back on board, fans can expect a high-energy soundtrack to match the franchise’s signature comedy and grand scale. Not only is the Rs 9 crore deal an indication of high confidence in the industry but also forms the beginning of a new positive era of two of the biggest Bollywood brands.
