Mumbai: Ajay Devgn has taken a bold step into the future of storytelling. The actor recently revealed the first look of Bal Tanhaji, an ambitious AI powered project that expands the world of his 2020 blockbuster Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior. Backed by Lens Vault Studios, the project signals a major shift in how Indian cinema may build franchises using technology, history and digital platforms.
The teaser already generated considerable responses on the Internet, and the visuals of the AI impress fans and make them wonder when the next theatrical installment of Tanhaji is going to be released.
What Is ‘Bal Tanhaji’ All About?
Bal Tanhaji is an official spin off from Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior. The original movie was about the legendary warrior of the Marathas Tanaji Malusare, but the new project tells about his childhood. The very title is an indication of the tale of a young Tanhaji and the silent battles, which made him a brave warrior.
Ajay Devgn confirmed this idea through his announcement caption, which spoke about legends being forged quietly before they rise in glory. The teaser hints that Ajay Devgn’s AI generated version will be part of the narrative, blending technology with historical storytelling in a fresh way.
Lens Vault Studios Steps Into AI Driven Content

Bal Tanhaji marks the first original property launched by Ajay Devgn and Danish Devgn under their new venture, Lens Vault Studios. The company seeks to leave the conventional filmmaking behind and venture into newer formats, platforms and storytelling tools.
According to Ajay Devgn, the vision behind Lens Vault Studios is to break creative limits and build content designed for the future. This is the concept of establishing story worlds that do not have to exist only on movie theatres but can be produced across various platforms. Bal Tanhaji is made the beginning of this larger plan. The series is based on the widely-known franchise Unsung Warriors which started with the first installment, Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, which became one of the largest hits of 2020.
Aimed at Younger and Digital First Audiences

One of the key goals of Bal Tanhaji is to retell history in a way that connects with younger viewers. With the help of AI technologies, the makers will update classic historical narratives and introduce them in their new forms which make sense to the current generation of digital citizens.
The project is also designed for multi platform consumption. This implies that it may not just limit itself to films but may expand to other digital platforms and give a new avenue to Indian franchises.
Will Other Characters Return Through AI?

Fans are already speculating whether characters from the original film will return in Bal Tanhaji. Tanhaji: Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior was a film that starred Saif Ali Khan as villain Udaybhan Rathod, Kajol as savitribai, and Sharad Kelkar as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
Although we can only speculate that some of the characters will be recreated with the help of AI, it is not yet confirmed that their faces or acting will be featured in this new venture. For now, the focus remains on young Tanhaji and his untold journey.
